On November 3rd, six of my teammates and I took part in the Red Kettle 5K Run/Walk. The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle fundraising tradition began in 1891, and through the years it has grown to help millions in need during the holiday season. I was very glad to have the opportunity to support such a worthy cause.
I have participated in 5K races before, but this was my first race of the season. I love charity runs because they give you the opportunity to support a great cause, socialize, and get some exercise all at the same time. I also like to challenge myself each race by trying to beat my previous race times. To prepare for this 5K, I ran regularly, stayed hydrated, and got plenty of sleep the night before.
It was a beautiful morning for an outdoor run, and everyone that participated had a great time. This event reminded me to be grateful for what I have, and to help others who are less fortunate. This was the perfect way to begin the holiday season of giving.
Cheers!
Lauren J.
