The Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders visited Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Seattle to show their love and support to our US troops and to perform as the opening act for the Pitbull concert given by the base, free for US military personnel.       

The cheerleaders visited many places while on base.  First up was the Gun Simulator, giving the cheerleaders the chance to interact with soldiers and see how good of a shot they have while not having to worry about using real guns and ammo.  Next, was the United States Army Reserve Unit’s Aviation Support Facility.  They allowed the ladies to sit inside the Chinook helicopters and taught them about what they do and how important their mission is to the country. The Colonel even came by the facility to meet the Ladies and thank them in person for their commitment to our troops.  They also had appearance stops at the VA hospital in Lakewood, Lewis and McChord’s Main Stores, the MP stations and a visit to the flight simulator.

The base Exchange & MWR were hosts for the free concert, including entertainment by the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders and International Pop star, PitBull.  The joint base had over 5,000 troops and their families come out to see the live show, even through the challenges of being outdoors in the pouring rain!  Sponsored by VOLI VODKA & CELL PHONE FOR SOLDIERS the concert was hugely successful. The cheerleaders danced and entertained the crowd through a down pour of rain, but that did not stop the energy, crowd or Pitbull from entertaining and having a good time.

Amazing memories were made during this visit not only for the Ladies of the Dolphins Cheerleaders but also for all those who were able to be a part of such an amazing two-day event.

What started out as a wet and gloomy day turned into a peaceful run for a great cause! To end the 23^rd annual Fleet Week Celebration, five other cheerleaders and I participated in the Fleet Week 5K. The road was full of puddles and there was no stopping in sight for the rain but as the cheerleaders and I started the warm up, all of the men and women in uniform as well as the other participants were in good spirits. As we hit the pavement running, the marines began their chants in formation. The pitter patter of feet splashing against the road with the chanting of the marines behind us had a calming effect on the crowd of runners. It was great to see the different branches of the military all supporting one cause together. Every branch was cheering each other on; the cheerleaders and I felt privileged to be a part of the encouragement alongside the men and women in uniform.

When the race came to an end we filed to the sidelines to cheer on the last participants. We also took the opportunity to talk to and take pictures with many of the people there. Despite the weather, everyone had a great attitude and a positive outlook. As they kept thanking us for being a part of the race, we couldn’t thank them more not only for this event but for being so brave and serving our country. – Rain or shine, we will support the men and women in uniform, thank you so much for serving and protecting our country!

On April 13^th and 14^th, eight MDCs including myself traveled to Orlando for an unforgettable trip!  The first day we were there we went to Aquatica and got to take pictures with Commerson dolphins. They were unique with their black and white markings! We then visited Sea World and went to their gorgeous aquarium full of stingrays and other exotic fish, but quickly found ourselves front row on Manta—the new flying roller coaster. The roller coaster suspended you forwards to simulate a Manta Ray gliding through the water; it was so fun some of the girls went on twice! After that we got to meet my personal favorite, the bottlenose dolphins. With the help of two trainers we learned different signals to get the dolphins to do tricks and interact with us…it was amazing! Our last stop of the day was the Clyde & Seymour Show, which was a comedy show with sea lions, otters and a walrus that had us laughing the whole time! After the show we got to meet one of the sea lions and a walrus named Slowpoke, who gave us all kisses on the cheek!

The second day was Viva La Musica at Sea World. This music festival is held every Saturday for the next month at Sea World. Guests celebrate the food, fun, sights and sounds of Latin culture, featuring live concerts by internationally renowned Latin musical artists. The famous Elvis Crespo was the Latin music artist featured on Saturday we were there; before he took the stage we had the opportunity to perform for an amazing crowd as well as take pictures and sign autographs for all of our fans attending the festival. It was such an amazing trip that I will never forget!

Despite the inclement weather on Saturday, there was a great turn out at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park in Key Biscayne. My MDC’s and I were not going to let a few rain drops stop us from coming out to support such a great cause. It was nice to see that so many people had the heart to make it out to the run. I love participating in these races and I am so happy there are so many that benefit students and education.

Having a special affinity for Autism research (I have a relative with autism), I felt proud to not only represent the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders, but my family as well. Despite the weather, we were able to raise over $150,000 this year with all proceeds going to Autism Speaks.  We were truly grateful to be a part of the cause and thrilled to give Autism a voice!

On Saturday, April 14, 2012, eight Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders will sign autographs and perform at Viva La Musica at SeaWorld in Orlando, FL.  The MDC will perform on stage before main act, Elvis Crespo. Performances are included with daily admission, Fun Card or an annual pass. Viva la Música festival begins at 12 p.m. every Saturday from April 14 through May 5, with the concerts starting at 3 p.m. at Bayside Stadium.

Viva La Mύsica is Central Florida’s can’t-miss Latin food and concert festival.  Viva la Música features food, drink, music and fun for the entire family, bringing together live salsa and merengue performances from award-winning Latin artists, authentic arts and crafts and authentic Latin cuisine.

This past weekend, a few of my fellow cheerleaders and I proudly participated in the Golden Key 5K Gets SunSmart!  This race was held on the beautiful beach of Crandon Park in Key Biscayne, where roughly 500 people crossed the finish line.  The cause of this race was to raise Melanoma awareness in our communities.  The proceeds went to the UM Medicine Department of Dermatology, the City of Miami’s PAD program and Sahara of South Florida.  The other cheerleaders and I learned that one American dies every hour due to Melanoma. This shocked us all.   Now we are prepared to put on our sunscreen every day, especially on the scorching hot game days here in South Florida, and to also get checked regularly by our dermatologists!

Eight cheerleaders, including me, started our month of April off on the right foot.  We had the pleasure to participate in the 3^rd annual Gumbo Limbo Green Turtle Gallop and Turtle Trot.  The proceeds from the event go towards the friends of Gumbo Limbo Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Facility, whose mission is to increase public awareness of coastal and marine ecosystems through research, education, preservation and conservation.  As a Florida native, the ocean and sea creatures hold a special place in my heart so I was excited to take part in this event.  The Turtle Trot started bright and early Sunday morning along the gorgeous beaches of Spanish River Park in Boca Raton.  The scenery was breathtaking as the sun rose during our trot.  The race was successful thanks to the more than 500 participants who came out to run in support of the cause.  My two favorite participants were the four-year-old little girl running behind us with her parents and a young lady who was really in the spirit dressed as a turtle!  We had so much fun supporting the sea turtles and I hope to do it again next year!

This past Saturday, March 24th, three Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders participated in The Homeless Voice’s 2nd annual 5K to End Homelessness.

“The experience was great,” said 2nd year veteran, Natalie W.  “It was really a great feeling to see people come from all over for a cause that affects the whole world.  We had an excellent time and once again did better than what we expected!”
