Dolphins vs. Jets - Yani's Rookie Blog

Are you ready for some football? As the Monday Night Football theme song played, the crowd roared. The lights were on, the fans in sight, and the stage was set for a Monday night fight! Through that exact moment I couldn't help but reflect on my childhood memories of my dad screaming across the house for my brother and I to come sing along and watch the game with him. I will never forget that feeling of dropping my barbies and racing to beat my brother to the family room television where "Al and Frank were getting it kick started." As I came back to reality I realized I was not in my room with my barbie dolls, nor was I 7 years old but yet I was on that field with my boots zipped up about to start our pregame routine! I was a part of the game. I was a part of Monday Night Football!

Land Shark Stadium was filled, with no empty seats in sight, Dol-Fan signs were being held up everywhere and as the fan's cheers becoming louder and louder to my ear, an adrenaline rush filled my body. Next thing I heard was Coach Emily saying it was time. We all scattered to our places to start the game, like every other game, yet this one felt different. It felt like my very first game.

We took home a grand victory of 31-27 over the New York Jets. We couldn't have done it without our intense combo of running backs, Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams. With Brown's touchdown, 2-yard run with 6 seconds left in the game, and William's 138 scrimmage yards, unbelievable! It's a game that I will never forget; history in the making and I was a part of it all!

As a Rookie, I am so pleased to be apart of such a prestigious league of women. I am so grateful to walk on that field and perform for the undying Dol-fans every game! Sometimes I still pinch myself to make sure it's not a dream but yet a reality!

Go Fins!

Love,

Yani
